It's part of OP's conceit that the 3 were in a race and Shalane got "goosed" (like a guy being "chicked"). It's kind of funny unless you have to explain the joke.

Jerry may have been hinting at that in the goose article when he said she would run a marathon in the not too distant future.
If Lisa Koll can get a 10,000 m qualifying time at Stanford this year, then that is valid for next year as well, so she could run the marathon trials in January 2012 and have 2 options for London.

She already has a qualifying time in the 10k. Her 31.18 from last year is good for this coming olympics.
I read somewhere that she ran 21 miles today.. kinda long for someone not training for a marathon.
