I'm doing a trail race in a few weeks and I like the Kinvara.
The Peregrine is supposed to be a trail version of the Kinvara, but my local store doesn't have them yet so I'm thinking about ordering them.
Has anyone tried them out yet? Are they like the Kinvara with lugs? Does that make them too heavy? Does it look like they drain well?
Word is they are only a bit heavier than the Kinvara due to the outsole (a couple of ounces). I would not call them heavy. They appear to drain fairly well due to the large mesh (similar, again, to the Kinvara). I'm an MT101 and Inov8 fan myself, but the Peregrine seem to be a really great trail shoe if you like a bit more cushion.
The Peregrine is a great shoe if you like a performance weight, but not exactly 100% minimalist. It's going to feel more like a lightweight trainer (think Nike Skylon, Asics DS Trainer, Adidas Boston, etc.) then a true minimalist shoe (New Balance 101, Vibram Five Fingers, Merrell Trail Glove, etc.).

Haven't personally tried the Peregrine, but if you're lookin for a lightweight shoe that is also rugged, you may be interested in the New Balance 101.

Not as much as the Peregrine. The MT101 has little nubs, the Peregrine has legit lugs.
