No indoor season in the US or Europe to sharpen, burn rust?
No indoor season in the US or Europe to sharpen, burn rust?
After last week's talk, he's probably on the comedy club circuit.
He's in Oregon.
I know guys his height have been successful indoors but it's always struck me that it's an invitation to injury for someone that tall to run too many races in the barn.
he had a VERY LONG season last year, and once he starts competing this season he will be going until mid september. so i think it is a good move not to race indoors, i would look for him to start in late april to early may with a few low key races, then probably the bowerman mile at the PRE-classsic would be his first REAL competition this year.
just a guess, i have no inside knowledge.
Repeat after me: Indoors is irrelevant
Exactly. There are so many morons that think indoors means anything. Do all the best in the world run indoors? No. Do all of the best run outdoors? Yes.
People run fast on outdoor tracks in Europe in July and August. Any other time period during the year for a track athlete doesn't matter. If you are good, that is where you prove you are good.
Who was the world champ last year at 60m?
No one cares.
Who was the Olympic champ in the 100m?
-Let me know when Usain Bolt starts wasting his time running indoor track.
Lananna said Wheating could run one indoor race but would "officially" start his season in May at the Oregon Twilight meet.
Try Sydney Track Classic March 19 with other OTC boys (the race symmonds doesnt do 15 or 8) and possibly Melbourne 3rd of March..
Why would he burn rust now? The World Championships are in August.
"The race Symmonds doesn't do"? Why would Symmonds's choice of race also determine Wheating's?
I really hope Wheating doesn't double at Worlds, even if he qualifies in both events.

why not?
Even if he doesn't qualify in both events, he should still double at Worlds. That would show 'em who's boss.
I don't see him being as successful in either 800m or 1500m if he doubles, as he might be with only one event to focus on.
Furthermore, we have such depth of talent at 800m and 1500m right now.
I would absolutely love to see Wheating double. He is young enough and strong enough. The best double.
Everyone knows Wheating parties during the winter.

I'm not sure how it is for Daegu, but it's an unlikely double for London to say the least, with the semi-final of the 800m and the final of the 1500m scheduled for the same evening.

he's been getting his picture taken, you'll see.
We need more (or just another) Alberto Juantorenas (CUB) in the sport.
