The inaugural United States half marathon was held this past weekend in San Francisco. The race was heavily promoted and was quite pricey too, with a $50 entry fee. For that fee runners were promised an accurate course with mile markers and digital clocks every mile. 7 aid stations anc chip timing.
On race day the course turned out to be less than 12 miles, in addition the lead bike made 2 wrong turns, there were no mile markers or clocks, not even at the finish line, there were only 2 water stops...one at a hairpin turn!...and no water at the finish; which is probably a good thing since there were only a dozen portapotties for 1800 runners.
The bandit who took our money is claiming that the race was a great success and is planning on taking it nationwide.
