Soon, you'll see there Lagat and Solinsky stand.
So, have the excuses started yet??
not sure what you mean by that.
1. last year solinsky became world class, time will tell if he will stay there.
2. lagat has proven for well over a decade, he is great by any standard, the fast times he has run, the # of times he has run fast example 9 times under 3:31.00 in the 1500, how he has medaled at championships, longevity, if lagat never races again he is an all time great, anything he does now is icing on the cake.

Once again I will repeat, racing is fun to do and to watch. Eliud Kipchoge has been racing consistently at a high level for the past 8 seasons now. The guy is always in the mix and if he doesn't win and he's up there in most races. He races frequently too.... In my opinion, he's the most interesting distance runner to watch at the moment. I don't know what is with our young american runners. Why don't they race more?? Guys, you have to race more often!!

Coach D, you are officially the most annoying twit on this forum, and that's saying something.
google translated:
21:39: Isiah Kiplangat Koech (Kenya)
Winner of 5000 meters (12:53,29 min)
I know that I can run that fast. I've realized in the meantime that is a very good time. The third fastest time ever? Madness. It was a very tough race, but I had some reserves at the end.
also: Koech`s birthday:
19/12/1993

unreal
4th fastest time ever indoors
How does a guy who runs 13:07 seven months ago outdoors run 12:53 indoors?
Either he's doping or truly is that young and still developing. Ridiculous.
If he's truly that young, and just improving because of maturity, then he'll break the world record before he turns 19. We'll see.
He is world youth champion and 2010 second best 5k time for a junior : 13'07

too bad the ethiopian federation did not let alemirew zenew run as zenew was on the startlist.
the ethiopian federation told him after his 7:27 for 3k last week, they wanted him to run the ethiopian world xc trials instead.
I love how already indoor times now are shaping out to be faster than the outdoor times last year in the diamond league.
He was just running a tempo to warmup for his 10,000 in Australia on Feb. 26 - 13:21x2=26:42 AR :)

Well I think 13.21 is a good run at this time of year
I agree. Not sure about an official conversion, but I'd say a 13:21 indoors is probably equivalent to a 13:10 to 13:15 outdoors. Pretty legit for this time of year.

I'm not quarreling with the observation that 13:21 is OK for
Rupp indoors, but do you really think that Koech is in 12:42 to 12:47 shape, or that Kipchoge is in 12:44 to 12:49 shape? I would doubt that...
I honestly think it was just a matter of going out a little too quick. I don't doubt that rupp is in great shape, but wasn't he on 13:0X pace for a large part of the race? If he had gone out a little slower through 3k, i'm guessing he would have been closer to 13:15. The problem was he was basically kind of forced into the fast pace, otherwise he would have been dropped and forced ro run most of the race alone.
Either way, 13:20ish or under for february isn't bad at all. I know people sometimes get annoyed with him DNS-ing races, but at least he doesn't completely bomb races. It seems like even on his "bad" days he'll hang on for a respectable time. This isn't NCAAs anymore, so he'll lose to some world-class guys, but thankfully he seems to understand the process and how putting in the time will pay off bigtime in the next 5-10 years.

Yes - 13:00 pace through the first mile, 13:04 face through two miles.
He's incredibly consistent. I can't remember the last time he had a really, truly bad race. Some people got on him for his run in the B section of the mile at Prefontaine last year, but he still ran 3:57, quite good for a 10,000m runner.

How old is he?
12?
Just a bunch of lying cheats.
