Just over a week away and things look very interesting. Navy looks very deep in the distance events but Army won a duel meet last weekend. Bucknell and Army seem to have a good sprinting crew. The field events seem to have a good mix of teams in the running. American lacks the field and sprint events but could gain a lot of points from the 800 and up. Any predictions for the meet?
What I want to know is can anybody beat the Bucknell women's team? That's not rhetorical, I really want to know because I sincerely want them to lose. They got crushed at their so called "House of Pain" meet. Served them right for putting up those obnoxious signs. "A team beats with one heart?" How f***ing lame can you get?
I think Navy would have to sweep the 800 through the 5k plus win the 4x8 and grab a few other points across the board to win the meet. Realistically, I think Bucknell will win, but it will once again be really close with Army.

Navy- Might see a sweep in at least one mid-d/distance event.
Lehigh- Strong in field events, have some sprinters and Flach.
American- Going to score enough in the distance to keep Navy from winning. Eustis, Olsen, Brannigan, Sullivan.
Colgate- Lightning struck for xc. Not again. Need a BIG day from relays, mid-d.
Lafayette- Will they score in any running event? Need a big day from field events to place higher.
Holy Cross- Please don't get shut out.
This conference might as well be split into divisions. Army, Bucknell and Navy all might be over 100 points. Anyone else will be lucky to get to 50.

It's going to be really close unless they run nothing but the DMR, which they won't...
The distance events are Navy's to lose.
Hanko and Rome are both showing the potential to close in on sub 4.
I also think that they both have the ability to scare sub 8 in the 3k
Navy has some quality at 5k too; assuming Hanko will not race 5k.
Heck, I think he could be close the 14 flat in that event as well.
Need to work on their DMR. I don't think they have run it with their studs yet this year.
Should be fun. Navy's indoor facility is awesome.
Some fast fast times for Bucknell this weekend. Can't wait for the championships!
I took it upon myself to do a fun, non scientific scoring of the events. While I know that the guys won't do all the events they are in position to score in (ie. Arent in the 60H, 200, 400, 500, 4x4), it gives a decent picture. Clearly Navy won't have all the guys in all of the distance events, which should lead to American scoring more than they are tabbed for here.
Furthermore, I estimated the DMR and 4x8 based on season results of individuals, as most teams have not run those events at full strength.
Here are my results (not my predictions).
Navy- 184
Bucknell- 153
Army- 143
Lehigh- 53
Colgate- 49
American- 25
Lafayette- 10
Holy Cross- 0
I think it gives us a clear indication that there is a 3 way race for the championship, and a 3 way race for 4th.
American guy leading 3000 at 8:06! I did not realize that.
The 3000 should be fast with some of the Navy guys in their as well.
Could see a 3k in the low 8's on that sweet Navy track.
Army guy Torres(sp) rounding into shape as well.

Women's title should be a battle between Bucknell and Navy but look out for Lehigh and Colgate - Deroo could score some big points and Lehigh is a sleeper!
No way the 3k goes fast. Almost all of those guys will have already raced or possibly be racing in the DMR. I bet it goes in 8:10-8:20 and probably closer to 8:20.

Why is Bucknell able to compete with the academies (Army and Navy) and other peer institutions like Lehigh and Lafayette can not compete? Do they have more resources/funding than other PL schools? Scholarships? What gives them the edge? I can understand why Army and Navy are so good, but I don't understand Bucknell.
Probably because they aren't pussies who have just resigned to the fact that they cant beat army/navy like lehigh, lafayette, colgate etc. Bucknell strives to win, and believes they can do so
I know of one institution in the PL that has no scholarships, no grant in aid packages, no work study, no loan options, no financial aid admission slots, no academic admission slots, and is limited to a roster in the 20's for track and 12 for XC by their administration. Basically a team of hey you got in do you want to come out and run? type guys. But yes they must just be pussies and Bucknell is just beastly.

The depth in some of the MD events like the mile is really impressive this year. There are going to be several 4:10-type guys that won't come close to scoring.
I'll take a wild stab at it and guess you're talking about Colgate. Even though most of their team sucks, sheridan and Johnson were pretty damn good in high school.
I didn't mean for this to become a "bashing" thread - it was an honest question about the League dynamics and I guess I was expecting too much.
What is disgusting is that Bucknell's womens team thinks they're really great because they crush army and navy every year. Those bitches walk around like they're hot shit, but they can only qualify 3-4 girls for the ECAC meet and then they get eviscerated when they go. The women's patriot league is nothing compared to the men's league, and the men's isn't even that great to begin with to be honest.
