I was at the race and went Brent took off the pack let him go. He never looked back. He eased up coming down the finishing straight and celebrated a bit. The real margin would have been closer to 15 seconds.
Meanwhile Teg looked hurt the final straight. Real hurt. 12k is too far for him today.
And Abdi? Yikes. He looked beat on lap 2 but still finished. Kudos to him for not giving up despite a terrible day.

Probably started hurting around 9.9K?
Im so stoked Brent vaughn did it. Im def. not surprised, he's a class act all around. Also stoked to see Jay Johnson's runners doing so well, congrats to all involved. BV has a long career ahead of him.
Abdi?
What about Scott Bauhs talking pre-race how he'd turn down the team to focus on track? Next time Bauhs should learn to answer, "nothing is given."
Nice post! Vaugn went all-in by the half-way point, and just opened it up, with the oft repeated comment from the crowd, "Who is this guy?!?"Another great performance today, and enjoyable to watch! How did his time compare to Ritz's on this same course three years ago?

Vaughn went Beast Mode on that field. Awesome, confident XC running. If you want to play on the world stage, you have to be ready to run races like that and commit. Brent has always impressed me with his performances in others' shadows. Hopefully this is the turning point he needs to be another leader for the American distance resurgence.

It was a grat run from Brent Vaughn, its great to see a good guy at the top of the podium. Also what an impressive run from Ed Moran as well, very nice.
Don't ask. It was bad. Very bad.

Vaughn for the win, CU steps up again on the cross circuit. Go back 10 yrs and see how many national cross titles were brought home by Colorado men, (Ritz, Culpepper, Goucher). That doesn't even include the short course titles. Add Vaughn to a long proud list. Congratulations and well done sir.
Great run by Vaughn. I'm impressed that he came back from a disappointing race just six days ago. I thought his "Finally!" after breaking the tape sounded a little staged and dramatic (shades of Garnett after the Finals win a couple years ago), but I'll give him a pass.
Anyone know what his 2010 was like after Peachtree in July? I don't remember seeing him in any other results. Maybe he did that Thanksgiving day race in Manchester? I'm curious whether he was battling injury or just getting in solid training.
