They do miss results, especially when going back 20-30 years, but generally they are going to have most of the marks.
Updated through 2007 though:
For a twit, Joel, you do some good work.
thanks much for the links

under 1:44.00
johny gray-26
every other american 800 meter runner in history so far-23
And don't forget Jeff West. I trained with both he and Grey when I was with SMTC back in the late 70's and early to mid 80's periodically (when I could handle it) Wonder what ever happened to Jeff? Anyone know?

3. khadevis robinson 10
4. rick wohlhuter 8
5. david mack 5
5. nick symmonds 5
5. george kersh 5
6. earl jones 4
6. rich kenah 4

david mack has 6 not 5 performances in the top 1000.
just a correction.
nice stat
surprising that kenah and earl jones got under that time only 4 times. jones (didn't he medal in 1984?) ran something like low 1:43 but his career was very short and kenah ran low 1:43 as well and a medal at the world championships but apparently didn't have too many good years. what happened with both of them?
earl jones was in a career ending car crash.
Ryun's one mark on the top 1000 list (1:44.3y) still the AJR. In fact, since the U.S. record list only gives him credit for the time he actually ran (1:44.9) I presume he remains the only American to run sub-1:45 for 800m as a junior athlete.

the top 3 american junior times at 800 are
1. jim ryun 1:44.3
2. jose parilla 1:45.34
3, robby andrews 1:45.40
robby andrews time was 1:45.54 NOT 1:45.40
i was thinking of the A standard for worlds when i wrote that.
