First of all, calculating how much of a straightaway 4 seconds is isn't a science. It's a simple conversion. Secondly, the concept of doing it is nonsense. There's no reason for it because it tells us nothing.

Why hate on hall here? Huh? Why do it?

No hate on Hall, i'm just saying he's not leading the race anywhere so it's a similar comparison.
Break 4? I highly doubt it indoors. Lukas' best shot will probably come in the outdoor season. Maybe a Midwest Distance Gala sub-4 attempt would be best for him with Charlie Kern pacing.
I propose that if Alan Webb loses to Verzbicas, then he should retire from track and field and end his career. The future and the past. The rise of V and the fall of Webb. The forlorn hopes of once and now a decrepit prodigy to the optimism of a new and youthful talent. Will Lukas succeed where Webb failed? Or, will Webb look at V, the mirror of himself and seek redemption and demand his dreams, once so close, become the reality he has so yearned so long for?

Like when a high school Steve Magness almost took Webb to the line at Pre? Webb came back fine from that one.
Is this going to be broadcasted on any channels or online? I'd like to take my Dad out to watch it as he is really into the whole sub 4 high schooler thing.
lukas aint no mirror of webb, boy.
webb aint gonna be looking for lukas, boy.
Webb's indoor sub-4:00 attempt was purposely kept under wraps- not even his competitors knew until a few hours before. Funny to compare that to this hype machine.
I threw up a little in my mouth trying to read this.

This.
Isn't this the same meet that Webb broke 4 for the first time in?
I'm much more excited to see Wills v. Manzano than I am to see Verzbicas or Webb.
Does anyone really know how the training of these guys is going?
I don't think so.
It is gun to guess about how fast someone will run, but it doesn't seem that any of us can have a "general idea" of how someone's training is going.
Knowing about their training is basically the same type of guesswork involved in speculating about race times.

The "New Balance" Meet was held in the Armory in NYC at that time.
http://www.dyestat.com/rivals/8096466.htmlundoubtedly we're speculating with extremely limited information. however, my shot in the dark is based on some logic and experience. i think verzbicas has the ability to "cherry-pick" the races he peaks for because he doesn't follow a high school season. he could have taken a week off after footlocker, ramped it up again, and could be in sub-4 shape now, relax again after this race, and then prepare for nike track nationals/pre/whatever. so, it's not like he has to sustain racing form for weeks or months at a time.
my further speculation is based on this: there is probably little argument that he has the raw ability and speed to run sub-4, whether it happens this year, or in college. the difficulty in doing it earlier rather than later will be based more on opportunity--i think the same goes for elias gedyon. will these guys have the opportunity to be in a race that allows them to be pulled through? i think this is one such opportunity for verzbicas.
that's my story and i'm sticking to it...
I can't wait to see the lighter and fitter Alan Webb run a mile.
I'm calling a 3:59, it's the country's best runner... ever.
Not sure if it is the same wrote:

No, this is the New Balance Grand Prix, formerly the Reebok Grand Prix. This is not the same meet as the New Balance Invitational which is primarily a high school meet (with a few pro events) and is run at the Armory every year, it is this weekend. Webb ran in the pro mile there his senior year. Nicole Blood did the same thing one year, too.

Thanks for clearing that up.
I say Webb(with the win) opens up in 3:54.13 Verzbicas goes 3:59.32
