Fla. jogger shoots teen in self defense

He fired 8 shots and managed to hit him in the chest and the back?

All of those shots were self defense.

As I posted on the other thread about this same news story,

I'm not against self-defense or gun rights, but c'mon OP, it's never good news when someone gets shot to death. For all you know, the jogger was itching to use his concealed weapon for years and finally found an opportunity. Maybe the kid yelled "Run Forrest, Run!" and the jogger started talking trash back, and one thing led to another and they started pushing each other, and the teen punched him in the face, and the jogger thought "this is my chance to finally shoot someone!" Now there's a dead teen who was in the wrong for starting the fight but didn't deserve to die. Do you really think this was the best way for the jogger to end the fight? Only if his life was truly in jeopardy. And I bet you $1000 it wasn't.

Oh man, I wonder if this runner was one of the guys that posted on the "How many runners carry a concealed weapon with them while on their daily Run?" thread!

I am amazed at the number of people who think they can physically assault someone. They see movies or read books like Fight Club and they think it can be done in real life.

If you physically assault someone past the age of 16, expect to either get killed or go to prison.

It is very sad that a life was lost in this scenario; a horrible tragedy.

I am totally for self defense, carrying and using a firearm if needed.

However, 8 shots? That seems a bit odd to me.

If you were scared for your life you wouldn't hesitate to pull of as many rounds as your clip holds. That kind of fear has a way of taking away your ability to think "hmm maybe on or two bullets is enough"

However, I have a long list of reasons for why I don't go around punching people in the face or trying to rob them...one of the reasons is that I don't want to get shot - one time, or eight times.

I'm still not sure how one runs with a gun. Strapped to your calf I can see I guess, but in your back waistband? Cmon your can't run like that.

Once you fire the first shot at another human being, you will have an adrenaline surge the likes of which you have never experienced before in your life. You can easily empty your weapon without recollection.

Like anything else, it gets easier with experience.

Yeah, this is the right answer. Too bad that a teenager had to die, but did he deserve it? Well, death is NOT the penalty for assault and robbery, BUT this didn't have the luxury and civility of going through the courts. In the middle of the night, you don't know why the hell someone wants to try to knock you out, and if you're knocked out, they can easily kill you, and even in a non-messy way (just choke you out for several minutes, and you're dead).

So, did this teenager deserve to die? No. Did he get what was coming to him? DAMN STRAIGHT!

Regarding the 8 bullets, damn straight empty the gun on him. Unless you're a sharp shooter, you don't know how many will hit him. Unless you've shot people before, you don't know how many it will take to stop him. In the middle of the night some dude (who could be 25 years old for all you know...you don't know he's just a teenager) attacks you...man that is one scary thing. I'm pretty sure if that happened to me I'd empty the gun into him, and then I'd probably kick him in the head too after it was all done just to make sure he wasn't going to rise up and come after me again.

Bottom line, don't go around punching people in the face.

I guess we will never know seeing as how he was not even charged.

I do not dispute it. This is very likely racism that there is no prosecution in this matter.
