This is true, but also played out. We're on a fan message board, where athletes are met with both praise and criticism, not unlike armchair quarterbacks watching ESPN. Without those people (fans and critics), there would be no money or following in the sport, so just deal with it.
Dang... that was a heck of a finish. That must have been intense. Good luck to him next time...

I have successfully attempted many record-setting runs, but I have failed at more record attempts than anyone else I know. In over thirty years of running I have lost count of my attempts, but am painfully aware that I have still not set any records, national or world.
Who holds the world 50K record?
Congratulations to Josh.
Didn't Bordin run a 50K in training in 2:41 as a progression run? The Gentleman from Verona's last 10K was 31:02. Can we all just tap the breaks on the competitive nature of 50Ks.
That being said, Josh is still to be congratulated.
Got to see the finish in person and he definitely gave it all he had, just didn't have left what he thought he would at the end.
He said post-race that he wanted to run the last mile in under 5:00, like he had in his previous attempt, but due to his great pace throughout this attempt, he was unable to do that in the end.
Josh, excellent run and I know you'll continue to become stronger and smash it two years from now.
Until then, enjoy the new AR and good luck with training!

Got it. I'll make a note to not take anything said here seriously.

Exactly. I actually saw him on Thursday and told him to kick some ass this weekend--I guess he did! Congrats to him.
I know a bunch of high schoolers who think anything above a 5k is stupid and uncompetitive.
And now I know a bunch of college kids who think similarly about anything above a marathon.
The SI article only proves what I said earlier.
Nice job Josh! Get that WR.
Yes Bordin did. Also Mr Cox we are inviting you to come and try again in April at Two Oceans where Thompson did it over 56km.44-46km is where we will see what you have to say when u encounter a hill bigger than you have seen in the USA.You think Comrades was bad you will be lucky to reach 50km in 3hrs.Thompson would have run 2hrs40 on your course, his 42.2km pb was 2hrs10min58sec,would have given Dathan a go.

Seriously? Geb is 38 years old, or thereabouts. Do you really think he needs "racing experience"? That's pretty funny.

MARATHON racing experience. Did I really have to clarify that for you?
You are still an idiot.
Sorry, but racing experience does not go away when you move up in the marathon.
