Not doubting you or the date , maybe my memory, but I was at this meet and and it was windier than heck, I was a 1500/5000 meter runner and I probably could have ran 10 something in that tail wind, just playin', but it was very windy!! I don't recall this being an Olympic year as the UTEP meet was not a race I went to in 1996, trying to get my Olympic Trials qualifier, If I recall the Masters Pole vault record was also broken at this same meet. Now we could also be talking about two different meets, where Thompson ran a very fast wind aided time, I guess the only way to get a definate answer is to maybe refer to the Bible, Track and Field News, like I said not doubting you or the date, but on the other hand I am old but not that dammmm old!!:) Nice conversating with ya!!
