Isn't it funny how many people are defending Wanjiru, but if this was Kerron Clement, Xavier Carter, or Khadevis Robinson (any black American athlete really), he would be HOUNDED by the letsrun faithful?
Also I found it funny how he's out on bail for 300 000 Kenyan shillings--a bit less than $4000. That's chump change to him, and his hearing isn't until February. Could you get off on bail in America for attempted murder? I'd hope not.

Does anyone else find it a little fishy that he was supposedly drunk? Elite marathon runners don't drink, or so I thought. Leads you to believe that anyone could do it.
Clearly, you don't know any elite marathoners.
The rush to find conspiracies around this is hilarious. He's not a politician or major public figure, guys - he's a runner.

most of those accused players are making millions.... maybe a few criminal runners will up the press attention and thus $$$ for the sport!
yah, i find it funny that people like asdfsdaf believes that Wanjiru might have committed this offense. I wish you knew how kenyan legal system is. Polices' investigation is untrustworthy. Police would go to the accused house and ask his poor neighbors, who are actually jealous of his stardom, about the accused. the poor neighbors always dont tell the truth.it always takes the police 20 or less minutes to conclude their investigations. and for Xavier Carter, i believe that he is arrogant and likely to commit a crime. He probably smokes weed! i wouldnt be surprised if that surfaces.

Why isn't is possible that Kenyan police are corrupt and at the same time Wanjiru isn't the greatest guy ever born?
damn, not my dude Wanjiru!!
there was a couple of threads on here a few months back that mentioned how Wanjiru would get drunk out on the town and hit up the Karaoke bars
then he came back like a monster in Chicago!, leading me to think those threads were just silly gossip...now this...smh
i hope he really was framed..
Looks like he better talk to Henry Rono and Bill W. one way or the other.
He looks really heavy (for him) in that picture. I think he mentioned in some interview how he really takes it easy in the off-season to let his body recover.
I also vaguely remember reading about him pulling a weapon on someone trying to rob him. Can anybody confirm.
I would have also though with his money, he could but a better jacket. He should be arrested just for wearing that thing.

Non-Kenyan is likely an American liberal Democrat, nobody that they admire can ever be guilty of anything, regardless of any evidence, logic, or reason.
I would consider myself a liberal Democrat and I believe that it is highly probable that Wanjiru is guilty. I also believe that is possible that he is innocent. But you see, I believe that a person's guilt is judged through logic and reason in a fair trial, not by messageboard posters on letsrun.com. I fail to recognize what a person's political affiliation has to do with this.

am a close friend to this man(wanjiru) but he is going nowhere in life, there is alot of stuff going on with his life ,remember last year he pulled a gun to a pastor, remember he dont respect nobody because he thinks he own the world with his little money!!!money is just papers it get blown by wind very easy, this man should be denied all these endorsements so that he know that athletics is a sport to be respected !!!!!and by the way all this witch craft in his family!!!!!!woooooh i pity him,he is heading to the grave if something dont control this mess and ask God fot forgiveness,,,,,,his wife is not possessive, who hate to see her husband heading the right direction,,,,,,,am an eye witness of this boy mess, he is just a piece of shit!!!!!!running honors should be given to people like paul tergat, haile, ryan hall, ritz and other who show respect to their sports
I am in Kenya and leave close to Wanjiru. His wife has secret affair and wants wanjiru jailed for life so she can openly proceed with her affair.. I know what she is doing and things are going on right now.Because of the case, i cannot divulge more information than what I have said. and Wanjiru is in a deep shit coz all the cops and investigators, including his lawyer have been humbly paid by this witch.
You guys are lame.

Funny is hell but wrong on all levels! LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If the Kenyan justice system is so corrupt, won't Wanjiru just bribe everyone and get off? That's what I'd expect to happen. I'm surprised he was even arrested.
Hmmm, AK-47 eh? I always thought his secret weapon was his kick... whether in a closing sprint finish or a miles-out acceleration. In any event I'm already working on some "Free Wanjiru" t-shirts. They come in Small, Medium, Large and Xtra@Large.
