Ryan Deak's dad made similar posts about his high school son on Dyestat about 10 years ago. That kid was fried after a couple years of college. Too much too soon.

We are new to the running. How were they similar? So if you have a kid who has the fastest times for the year in your state in her age group. Ranked as one of the top 25 nationwide, based on times. Doing cross training, weights, basketball, volleyball and running 8 to 10 miles a week. Why or what would you change? Coaches all want this kid but I have trained her and feel either unsure or afraid they will change her if I let her go. I really am afraid she will be hurt or burned out and not want to continue. She loves working out now and don't want her to lose that desire.
In high school, you can win everything by being well-rounded. In college, being a jack of all trades means ending up a master of none. They're going to want to focus her in something and then do specific training. What you're doing right now might be great base, but at some point you will have to seriously consider sacrificing the all-around fitness if you want NCAA recognition.
And if you can't let her go to another coach, well, at least Seb Coe did all right with Peter Coe for a coach.
Those are not even close to Hasay times.....
Oh, just to be clear, I was not comparing times to anyone. I really don’t know what Hasay times were when she was 14. Some people suggest that my daughter do multi events, because she is well conditioned. She can run, jump, and throw better than most. I only jumped in this topic to express the view of a pretty good athlete who gets stuck in the middle somewhere. She is not a little twig of a girl and its challenging to race kids at least longer distances when you are noticeably bigger. Again, I was just adding what we have done and the success she had with the training we did. All time state record for 7th grade multiple course records for several different track and cross events and state championships in two different sports. Just curious what parents would want, a champion in one sport or an athlete champion in 3 or 4 sports with multiple options for college. Some people may argue that if she had trained differently maybe she would be better at running, maybe closer to your mentioned Hasay. I think so far she is happy with what she has done as an athlete in several sports. When she walks around or runs people comment about her strength and she is proud of that. We know some of the top runners in the country and she doesn’t want to look like them to be the absolute best. She is content to be one of the best……………………..
10/10
Hook, line, sinker.....
And actually those times were at 13. We don't know what her times will be at 14.
Drugs.
Repeat a lie enough and some people will believe it.
Mega mileage has nothing to do with it.
And anyway, God forbid anyone suggest that a 6' mile might be
more beneficial than a 7' mile, for a kid who wants to race a 5' mile or a 4' mile.
Truth is the last time a HS kid set a national record
running 100 miles/week, well, you'd have to go back to the 1970s. Just to review:
HS mile
Webb ran less mileage than Ryun.
HS 3000m/2mi
Fernandez ran less mileage than Nelson.
HS 5000m
Rupp ran less mileage than Lindgren.
Of course less can be more.
