Nole Runner26,
Thanks Man, he's won it 6 out of the last 7 years. It'd be nice to defeat him and win that "Mickey Mouse Trophy"!!!
By the way nice Run at Jacksonville!

rhrunner - Great week! Doing those progression long runs (or fast finish long runs) are key in running a solid marathon.
Thanks pablo! They are my favorite marathon workout, great confidence booster.
Should be a good race through the parks!
I'll be doing the half, and I think that it might be a little too early for me to watch!
Temp Goal - Disney half, 1:14?
As for me, I've been building up after taking 3-4 easy weeks after Maine in Oct,
Last week was
M - 10
T - 10
W - 6A/12P w/ 6x.9 mi hilly loop avg about 4:51
T - 10
F - 6A/10P w/8x800 @ 2:34, 4x400 @ 73 I feel really slow
S - 8
S - 19
Total - 90
I'm hoping heading south for the holidays to warmer weather will speed things up a little bit
Pittsburgh May 2011
Still taking it easy while several mild but nagging injuries finally heal. Just doing an hour on the elliptical every other day. And planning to put up the Christmas tree tonight....
Hope everyone stays healthy and enjoys the holidays!
Goal Race: Myrtle Beach Marathon (2/19)

Su: 20 @ easy (710)
Total: 84
Notes: Longest long run ever and highest mileage week ever (maybe). Also had some of my fastest workouts ever which is good with only 2 months left until the marathon.
Good job on the training front to everyone and good luck riding that red line.
1xChop down tree, 2 minutes rest
6xhang light strands, 5 minutes rest plus shot of baily's
120 minutes on couch watching ornaments be hung (more baily's-more of a tempo style consumption than the earlier reps).
GoalRace Y10 10 miler (feb) Cleveland (may)
GoalTime low 70s, 3:20s
33 miles this week like this:
m 8
t -
w 2 am with dogs 6 pm with 4x400 in 90ish seconds, 90s rest
r -
f 4 (ran out of time in the day) with striders
s 5 snow/trail run with dogs. Kind of killer since I couldn't locate my yaktrax. Lots of slippage and the dogs pulled me into a bush. The harnesses must come out.
s 8 with 4 at 'tempo' (more like marathon pace-730/mi)
Good week. Felt ok and had two decent, if slow and short, workouts without any problems. Dr bumped up my meds so hopefully i'll be feeling stellar within the next few weeks.
More 400s next week and mileage in the 40s.
Merry Christmas all!
Hi guys,
Just wanted to check in to see that you are all still cranking out some absolutely barbarian workouts. It is even more impressive now that I am not doing those workouts with you. For those of you who were training with me through Nov, my stress fracture has healed (along with my bruised marathoning ego) and I am starting to putt around the neighborhood although I don't have any racing plans these days.
I finally defended the dissertation (so am officially Dr. PJ). I did not get to crack 2:30, but I had fun chasing it and have no regrets as I start back in med school full time. Hitting the wards again after so much time off is terrifying but running hopefully has made me tougher! BTW, training was a lot more fun with you guys posting. Thanks and good luck with all your goal races.
PJ
pablo - Hahaha you did call that. And I think you are right. Minimal trolls due to the transparency and availability of results/information.
Although, our thread is on the homepage today so we attract some trolls. beware..
Summit Taurine - Thanks man. I had a lot of fun pacing a friend to a 50sec PR.
the FARM - nice to see you back here. 1:14 for Disney huh? I just ran 1:14 in Vegas... what's your PR?
PJ - Good to see you back too. Congrats Doctor!

Priceless....I love it.
Mike - Welcome back! Christmas time is a great time to heal nagging injuries with lots of food and alcohol.
FARM - Great to see you back again as well. With a 1:14 half, you'll be in the top-10 at Disney. The past few years, some of the Hansons guys come down and and destroy the field. Good Luck!
Dr. PJ - A major congratulations! I am amazed that you were able to handle that workload on top of training for Boston and Chicago. The running/med school combo no doubt made you tougher, if you can handle that....I'd say you're a step ahead of the rest of us in mental toughness category.
I ran a slight PR 1:14 at Disney last year after doing a bunch of 100 mile weeks and no speed. This year after Maine I figured I would be able to maintain some strength and just add some speedwork. We'll see how it turns out.
Last year I ran with one of the slower Hansons guys for the first half or so, but he was just doing a tempo and the conditions were terrible so he dropped off a little bit. Maybe one of these years I'll train hard enough to hang with them, but an early Jan half presents training challenges when living in the northeast and working full-time.
Hi All, new to this thread. Great seeing so many people training through the winter! I'm a married father of two with a full time job. Hope I can keep up. :-) I spent 2009 injured but built up to Twin Cities this past October and ran 2:51, just off my PR.
Goal: Boston, 2:48
M - AM: 8 treadmill, PM: PT (core and stretching, routine used when coming back from injury)
T - AM: 7, PM: 4 (all treadmill)
W - AM: 7.5 (freezing), PM: 3 (treadmill)
T - AM: 10 (warmer than yesterday), PM: PT
F - AM: 6 (treadmill)
S - AM: 10, PM: PT
S - AM: 16, hilly and cold, first tough long run
72 for the week. Still in a base building phase and hope to start tempo/LT runs in a few weeks.
Merry Christmas, all!

Had a few posts earlier, this was my first week back to pure Boston training after club nats - 32:20. 4TM in the house!
Welcome G-Blizz!
It will be fun to compare and contrast along the way since I have the same goal time on the same weekend. I can see I'm already behind in the miles department.

You too VF Runner. I've learned I'm more of a high-mileage runner. I may only do one quality run a week (depending on the week), so for me now it's base base base.
Good luck in your training!
Can't say for sure if I'm better at high mileage - I've never really gotten there. Avg mpw for my PR marathon was about 64.5. I'm hoping for at least 10 more this time around.
Right now even if some of them border on "junk miles" I'm trying to get more runs and miles in however I can do it. Mid Jan is when I'll really start focused training (Pfitz).
Goal Race: Modesto Marathon (3/20)
Goal Time: Sub 2:40
M: 9 am, 5 pm
T: 8.5 am, 5 pm
W: 9.5 am (2 x 1.4 mile loop at 5:45 mile pace or so), 4.5 pm
Th: 9 am, 5 pm
F: 8.5 am
S: 18 am -- Ran about 40 minutes at 6:00/mi or so (was supposed to be 60 minutes, but stomach and hamstring conspired against me)
S: 9 am (pretty fast), 5 pm (also fast, felt good)
Total: 96 (think that's a record for me)
This was the third week of training for me after a looooong layoff, feel pretty good about it. 5:45 pace did not used to feel so hard.
Some pretty impressive training on here guys, keep it up.
Another solid week in the post marathon build-up
Goal Race: Manhattan Half Marathon?
Goal Time: Faster than last year (1:14:45)
Mon:13mi, VCP. Some pickups in backhills. Last 1mi 544.
Tues: 8mi CP at 6am before work
Wed: 10.5 CP last 2 steady.
Thurs: 9mi, moderate. Running off the effects of a holiday party.
Fri: 9mi am CP, easy. 4mi PM treadmil.
Sat: 11mi CP, last 3 hard. Pm: 35' spin bike 135bpm
Sun: 14mi CP. Felt like crap, a week of 5hrs of sleep every night caught up.
78/week + 35 xt. Wow, just added this week up. Looking forward to adding a few more double consistently. Happy running guys.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
