Why would you go out of your way to defend someone you don't even know? Yours is the middle-school fanboy mentality here, pal.

See who's classless now. I can't defend a guy against assclowns like you without receiving lewd and disgusting comments from you. What are you, in middle school? Grow up.
Since when does the TSA Academy hand out athletic scholarships?

How many languages do you speak? When was the last time you were interviewed post-race in a language you've been speaking for just a few years. His English was fine, by the way, if not flawless. That's why he'll be going to school for free at a college of his choice in a couple of years, and you'll still be sitting on your hating ass watching him from home.

Great coverage. Kind of hard to understand why it can't be done like this more often. Maybe the production for other meets can't always be this good, but you would think that they could at least get the basic internet technicals down by now.
We can have that kind of coverage more often. That kind of coverage works for Footlocker. There are only 40 kids, most of them are near the front for a while, and we only really care about 5-6 of them anyway.
If you had that same kind of coverage at the NCAA championships, everyone would have complained that all we saw was Chelanga, Sambu and a little bit of Puskedra and not any of the team race. They would have complained that mile splits weren't more precise, that team scores weren't updated live, etc. I also noticed that the lead cart with the camera was zig zagging across the course, and driving off course quite a bit. That provided some great views and angles (and some poor ones), but it just wouldn't work at a race with any decent amount of spectators.
Put simply, it's easier to cover an individual championships than a true XC championships with a large field and team scores to focus on as well. Don't interpret what I'm saying as an FL vs. NXN thing, I'm more comparing to NCAAs (the race I really care about seeing. The NXN coverage was abysmal, even factoring in everything I just said.
I especially liked that the video feed didn't flake out every 5 seconds today. I had one hiccup about 1 minute before the boys start, when the viewership jumped from ~2500 to ~4500 in about 10 seconds, but other than that, it was great.

No excuses here, just wondering:
What if NY didn't have to choose between NXN and FL?
The NE boys top 2 were from NY and both were top 10.
Girls team would have been much different with the FL champ still the best.
Too bad they have to choose, both are great races and there should be one championship race.
It would have been the same as it was before there was an NXN. Every year the NE boys get hyped by kids in the NE, every year they get 3rd or usually 4th, and every year people make excuses:)
Phenomenal race for both boys and girls. Lukas looked great, I'm happy for his repeat and double this year. Cuffe and him won by big margins. Thanks Footlocker for providing the great live coverage and LetsRun for the convenient link on the page. It was a run watch.
I remember, just a few years ago, when the West girls team was unstoppable. There was a sick year where the West team beat the rest of the girls combined. During the Fleshman/Bei/Siraki/Craig/Trotter/Zeigle years.
What the hell happened??

Back to the post's subject. I totally agree. The coverage was fantastic and so much better than NXN, from start to finish. NXN might be getting better and better boys fields (the top girls still go to FL), but their coverage (intros, camera angles, play-by-play, actually showing runners outside of the leaders) of the race was poor compared to FL.
It may be harder at NXN because they have so many more runners and there is the whole team dynamic going on, but I just love how simple and classic FL is in comparison...hope it doens't go away.

NXN is what happened.
I wasn't really comparing it directly with the NCAA or NXN, but rather with the coverage in general of so many other important races in the past several years where the promoting sites just couldn't handle what they promoted. And that leaves everyone dissapointed whether due to a lack of audio, video or connectivity. And I understand that you get what you pay for.
It's just that when a technology has been around for 10 years, it builds a certain expectation that has often not been met by some of these coverages. So it is nice, when they deliver what they promote. On-line shopping was like that 10-15 years ago, but they got their act together.
The Footlocker coverage was not perfect. For instance, we love to watch the leaders, but if 25% of the time was spent on the rest of the field, it would add a whole new dimension without taking anything away from our appreciation of the lead pack. After all, these are the top 40 HS runners in the nation. However deep coverage has not been done in almost any track/cross meet that I have seen including the Olympics. Oh, well.
great coverage... horrid announcing.... no knowledgeable commentary at all
I didnt catch the name of the girl announcer. The guy mentioned she ran here. Does anyone know her name?
Carrie Tollefson, 2004 Olympian. I thought she did a nice job commentating. Let's Run is a tough crowd.
Total domination by the Midwest kids on both sides, love it! The MW boys would've smoked the other 3 regions combined.
Fantastic job by the Michigan girls (7th, 8th, 11th, 14th) and Indiana boys (2nd, 5th, 12th).
Watching in Kenosha 2 weeks ago, I had a feeling this was one of the strongest MW fields ever for both genders.
What's the story on the Gardner kid? Haven't heard a whole lot about him. Only 10th grader in the field and he takes 4th, wow!
Why would you go out of your way to criticize him? Double standard.
In my opinion, I'm not out of my way at all.
Carrie Tollefson is hot! Anybody got her #?
Is Sveinsson out for the year? Heard nothing about her in what seems like forever.
It was great, but does anyone know why Sarah Baxter was not running? Wasn't her Mt. Sac time in the 17:50s (though from the finish, this appears to be a different course)? Perhaps she or her coaches decided this was too much for a Freshman. She is a remarkable runner with strength as well as the current advantage of power to weight ration. Is it an issue of how the competitors are chosen? Wasn't Molly Graebel in both this and the State Meet?
I wasn't "out of my way at all," either.
Now what?

Yep. Being from Minnesota has its advantages.
