Check out the pictures...
1939. Rudolf Harbig whipping Mario Lanzi at the Germany/Italy match in Turin, 1939. Epic WR of 1:46.6. Look at Harbig's footfalls down the stretch (lower pic).
1955. Check out Roger Moens' agonized grimace to his right, with Audun Boysen a step behind during the 1:45.7 WR run at Oslo. Look at his contorted face...Moens never hid the pain of the eight. Exactly as he grimaced to the left, in the homestretch at Rome during the 1960 Olympic 800 final. Only on that occasion, he was confronted by the invincible Peter Snell. Speaking of whom..
1962. The invincible Peter Snell himself. The legendary run on the grass field at Christchurch. 1:44.3. WR. Awesome.
1968. Daniel Rudisha giving his Olympic silver medal to his father. Great family tradition being established. Sets up David Rudisha to do the same, although maybe he'll win gold.
1974. More of hard-as-rock Rick Wohlhuter.
