Looking into 2nd Job - Wanna Bartend

Heard bartending isn't a bad gig and can compliment a full-time job well. One of those things tho that can be tough to get into if you don't already have your foot in the door.

you'll probably have to work as a barback first, those are the dudes who are behind the bar stocking beer and washing glasses. I bartend now and it took me about six months of doing that first. I used to get tipped out 15% of the bartenders tips plus an hourly wage. It's not bad either.

There is a catch-22 starting out b/c you can get a gig somewhere with no crowd, but then you won't make any money. Hard to get a job at the places bringing in customers.

You will likely have to start as a bar-back, which is actually not bad, as stated by the previous poster. Lets you learn the vibe of the place, popular drinks, etc without getting tossed right into the fire.
