So numerical grades have been posted online but not letter grades. I got an 89.5% in the class. I know the professor somewhat, but we're not buddies or anything. What are the odds they'll give me an A anyhow?

Go talk to them at their office hours, showing that you care about your grade is worth a lot.

7/5 in your favor.
Next question.
The probability he will round up is 89.5%.

Good suggestion above. But you can't just tell the prof that you want the A, show them why you deserve it. Tell them that you really understand the material with some examples: show the prof your best assignments and tests for the class. Make it brief, make it persuasive and ask as if you really think you deserve it, but don't demand it.

You should roll into his office guns blazin', swipe everything off his desk, and say wtf?!

the odds are 100% the the professor will decide
0% that anyone here would know.
50% chance of being right if we guess he will round up and give you any reason

Damn, this question just reminded me of the time in 7th grade when I had straight-A grades in everything but English, where I had an 89.4%. Mrs. Walker then proceeded to give me a B+. That kept me of the "Highest Honors" honor roll. Thanks for nothing, Mrs. Walker.
Don't be like that. What you got out of it will be appropriate. Stop ruining your trip my friend . . .
I had like a 79.8% in my freshman year of college in calculus and got a straight C. No + or - given. I studied about 10 hours a week just for that class too. Took a bunch of A's in my new major of business to get my grade point back above 3.5.
a student mentioned it with a 79.75 percent recently, so I changed the grade from C to B. Just don't be a jerk about it and you might get the 90.
So the policy on this situation wasn't clearly stated in the syllabus (or some other official document)? If so, that was his or hers first mistake. And in that case yours wasn't asking for clarification.
Talk to the Professor. They tend to be reasonable people (though there are exceptions.
Are you saying that a 90 would be an A? What school do you attend? Isn't 94-100 the scale that earns an A?
^^^No I've never heard of that anywhere. It's 90+

How much money over and above tuition, room and board, and fees do your parents give to your college?
I can assure you that at my top 10 university, as well as every other one I've ever heard of, 90-92/93 is an A- and 93/94+ is an A.
What is an A- at your school?
I get this question all the time from my college kids!?
There has to be a cutoff. 89.5 is NOT 90!
If you want me to round you up then what about the next girl who got 89.4? or 89.45 since I use 2 D places. 90 is the cutoff and that is it.
So if you run 3:59.5 are you a sub 4-min miler or do you round up and you're just a 4-min miler?
My last marathon was only 2:25.03 but can I round down and say I am a sub 2:25 marathoner? What if I ran 2:19.01 on a certified course with no chip/gun time issues missing the OT cutoff...can I get a round down?
