I'm not sure if there has been another thread on this before, but I couldn't find one:

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it odd that so many accolades were given to a dog? There are people being killed in wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, and now a dog is getting more attention than actual human beings (including American soldiers, no less). I understand that the issue here is that the dog was wrongly put to death, and that it did help save lives. The dog certainly did great things, and it is sad that it died in such a way that could have been prevented. At a certain point, however, it seems like we ought to remember that it's just a f*cking dog.
