Races and training venues in Florida in April

USATF has schedules and if you look into the association that includes Florida, they will have more specific schedules for track meets. (USATF NE has quite good schedules). Your best bet for meets, however, will be college and university meets, which will very often allow open runners like yourself. You look at a university athletics (track/field) website, go into the schedule (say, University of Miami, track, schedule) for a good meet and then contact the coach. I recall there being an open meet in Jacksonville in April.

Here is the USATF Florida website and track schedules for the University of Miami and the University of North Florida. USATF Florida has a list of road races but apparently no track meets in April. USATF's searchable calendar did not include any track meets for April in Florida.

Looks like weekend of 16/17 is good: Alumni meet in Miami (I'll ask about guests..), and the Marathon bridge race the next day - which even lets kids run! I think there will be "family buy-in" for a trip to the Keys...

It will probably still be cold in Florida in April. I doubt the trails will have thawed out. I suppose you could get into a meet if some school down there is willing to shovel their track, but I wouldn't be surprised if it canceled because of snow.
