I had a knee scope to debride some cartilage beneath the knee cap a few years back. 3 months after, I could not run more than 5 minutes without my knee just killing me, and could not figure out why, until I went and got the scar tissue on the scope-holes worked on. One session of that (very painful, I didn't know I was supposed to work on it myself throughout the entire healing process)and I started working back into running that same day and progressed fine. Made a HUGE difference. I too developed pes-anserine bursitis although it was more annoying than anything and gradually dissapated. To be honest, my knee took about 2 years to feel 100% normal again, although in the meantime I had 2 of my best racing seasons ever.
There can be a few subesqent that arise after scoping, generally they'll go away on their own.
