I have been wondering why in some races I have the ability to keep pushing and running harder and I run great times but then other times I just dont have that same will to do it. Does anyone else have this problem? Or does anyone know how to fix it?

You don't have the drive or the will to win, all the time. You are more like Webb and less like Michael Jordan.
Well in that case how do i become more like micheal jordan?
specifically winning or running all-out?
maybe you psyched yourself differently for these races. I personally barely care for winning, just running all-out.
Your vagina might have something to do with it.
Pussssssssy
no real responses?
Do you need to fix it? The people that need to win all the time are the biggest douchebags. Watch Michael Jordan's Hall of Fame acceptance speech. If you're running just for yourself, run how you want. If you're letting down your teammates, of course that's a different story.
I had this problem sometimes in college. I would be in contention for the win, but not give it my all for the win. When giving it my all would have probably won the race.
I think it has to do with fatigue. Not just physical, but mental fatigue.
Don't worry, you'll regain your desire to win again someday. It might just happen after an injury or break, and a return to training and fitness.

Stop worrying, you don't have to be perfect every time, just some of the time.
I'm not usually one to pull the old-school-tough-it-out line, but you seriously need to grow a pair. That's how you fix it. Don't worry about how to fix it and just do it.
Fukc off, he's just a kid, he doesn't have to win every damn race. This is where coach and parental pressure exposes the real insanity amongst adults involved in the sport. How is he supposed to enjoy it if he is expected to win all the time, what will he do when he meets a much higher level of competition?
I think everybody goes through that. I run quite a few races a year and sometimes I just push much harder in a race than I normally would. For me it is often dependant on the situation. If the reward for me is greater than the extra effort, I will put it in. If it isn't, then I am happy to hold an even effort to the finish. That would make it more mental than physical to get that last few seconds out of a race.
You need to move to the next level of competition and get your ass kicked a few times.
Then you will appreciate winning.
This is just normal -and sometimes you actually run better when rrelaxed (you can't fight the whole way) but maybe pick which big races you want to focus on
Even then sometimes your best runs are when least expecting it
A lot of those winning types are just amazingly gifted (of course they have to train hard - but in the race itself its there physical superiority that shows through. Take Ovett as a good example - supposed to have a 'killer instinct' but if he was not fit later in his career he just could not get onto the leaders shoulder to do his kick (and wave).
