The cover looks like almost all the covers on Runner's World. They have some way of homogenizing whoever is on the cover to make them all look the same.
I will say a word of defense about the content of RW, however. This month there's a good article about the Hanson marathon training program by a 41-yo guy who uses it to run sub-2:40 and a good story about the 2000 Footlocker and Ritz/Webb/Hall. There's also a shout-out to Desi Davila and her 2:26 in Chicago.
RW is trying to cover everything from beginning hobby jogger couch potatoes to professionals so it's got a broad focus, but they're not ignoring competitive running. And maybe picking up a RW will make hobby joggers aware of competitive running and get them interested in it, because they're sure not going to learn about it from most of the rest of the media.
