They keep the same pace the whole way.Like 15 30 and they run 31 00s.

That just means they aren't trying when they run the 5k.
Had a friend was was very talented in high school, but never really realized his potential. Think he ran 4:50/10:15/16:30 in high school. Never had much of a kick at all; a really good cross runner. Ran in college for a year, dropped out, got a part-time job and ran upwards of 90+ miles a week for 2 years. Managed to run 4:24/14:55/30:20 , and i wanna say he ran a decent number of half's under 1:08/1:09. Endurance monster.
Yea this is completely useless as I don't feel like looking up the numbers, but 05 or 06 there was a D3 runner from...Calvin I think...his 10k on the nats list was like 3 seconds slower than double his 5k. Was under 30 so someone should know or be able to find it.
I had a training buddy a while back that ran a 15:25 5K, 30:58 10K, and a 1:05:41 half marathon all in a span of six weeks. All were race-effort on legit courses.....only the half was a PR. We weren't doing any speedwork - only road work.
This past track season I only ran one 5K (15:12) out of four attempts faster than my closing 5K of a 10K race that I ran that season (15:36/15:20). My speed sucks pretty hard. I felt as if I could have run 46:30 for a 15k if I added on and didn't do the 2nd 5K that much quicker. 15k might be stretching it, but at least 13k.
Speed is something I obviously need to improve upon.

Joel Klooster? i think his prs were 14:25 / 29:16 (both school records at the time) but maybe not for that year, and it could be someone else
I know somebody who set his personal bests for 1K, 5K, and 10K, (15K, 10 miles) in the same race, on his way to a PB for a semi-marathon. He passed the 10K mark about 30 seconds faster than his best road race. He's more interested in longer trail runs than road races, so doesn't really train for 10K on the road, or he could probably knock another 90 seconds off.
its amazing to see PRs for people
When I ran the 4:28 in the mile I was nowhere near sub 17 ability
How about breaking your 5k PB in a 10k with a 16:16 split, then going on to finish in 32:40.
a college teammate had little leg turnover, his 3k, 5k and 10k were all roughly the same, in fact he ran a 5k pr in the last 5k of his best 10k - he was a sub 30 10,000 runner.
