So what's the current theory behind stretching? It seems to me as if static stretching is dead, and now everyone's moved on to AIS (Wharton type stuff) or simply not stretching. I understand the idea behind AIS is that the length of time the muscle is stretched is short enough to prevent the muscle from tightening back up on itself, so my question is this: does AIS still weaken muscles and decrease economy? This is not a debate about the merits of static stretching, but whether similar issues come up with dynamic stretching. In case anyone has never heard about the problems with static stretching, here's just one thread with some links showing that static stretching decreases economy:
