So my goal big race for which I need a big PR for is the 1st week of January. Wednesday night I felt kind of bad, and Thursday morning (so 3 days ago) I woke up feeling sick.. sore throat, allergies, a bit of a headache. However I could still get out of bed etc. and I did my usual Thursday morning run but decided to cut it short 2 miles because I felt crappy and was going really slow anyway. I did not feel good the rest of the day (I had to move around, go to class etc) and felt bad in the afternoon... I may have had a fever. I took a nap in the afternoon, then took some medicine, then went to sleep early and got 10 hours of sleep. I didn't run Friday morning and decided to see how I'd feel through the day before running. I did feel a bit better, still allergies, coughing, but I don't think I had a fever and went for an afternoon run. It was with another person and I accidentally went faster than I should have (and my legs kind of hurt near the end, maybe the lactic acid?) I felt a bit light-headed at the end and a little dizzy and just sat down and stretched, the feeling went away about a minute later but I haven't experienced that feeling in a while. I took medicine throughout Friday too and Vitamin C etc. and the next day, Saturday morning, I was fine except for allergies and coughing. I did a shorter run again Saturday (2 miles shorter than usual) and VERY slow. Then through Saturday I felt fine but was just coughing/had allergies. Today, Sunday, I went for my morning run and did a "longer" run (though shorter than I usually have). For some reason, I was going at a pace that's normally easy for me but this time I was breathing kind of hard and the last 30 minutes or so were VERY slow, my legs felt heavy and hurt and it felt like I was almost walking (though I picked up the pace near the end and felt okay). I felt a little bit light-headed at the end but nothing crazy.
Anyway after all of this, I ran 52 miles this week (original goal was 60-70 but I cut some runs short and didn't do doubles on some days either). But my question is, is it okay if I keep running now that I'm past the "bad stuff"? Still coughing a little bit, but I feel better. But also, did I just set myself back by running through this? My run today was pretty slow. My plan was to do ~70 miles a week the next 3 weeks and then 60 the week before my race... with some workouts. But should I just run easy until I'm fully recovered? I hope I didn't just throw away everything I did by running through this...
