Then FOR THE LAST TIME Julie doesn't need to run for this school's team....She can do what SHE wants on her on. She can still get noticed, she can still get scholarships, she can still run certain meets unattached.
If she doesn't want to follow the [coaches] rules then for goodness sack RUN ON YOUR OWN TEAM!!!!
Julie is a student at the school, and the team is for the students, not the coach.
A person's personal standards should come first, #1 above anything else.
When I was in high school, a certain coach would try to force me into doing certain things his way. I refused, ignored him, and kept doing my own training. One time he ordered me to stop running during a warmup. I kept going so he threatened to boot me off the team, so I kept on going longer, while everyone else was sitting up in the stands. Fortunately he was an asst and not the head coach. A friend told me later the kids were making bets on how long I'd keep running. I had no respect for that coach, but I did for all the rest of the coaches, because they cared about the kids and what happened to us.
Had that coach kicked me off the team, I still would have done what I did. And it would have remained a key moment in my life. As it was, I was the only one who went to the state meet from the school.
