The fact that you think I'm an "unemployed runner begging for table scraps" is actually pretty accurate. So are pretty much all American distance runners, save Ritz, Hall, and other top 2%.[/quote]
That's not true at all. Most adult runners have real jobs. If you choose not to have one, great. I had the same choice when I was your age, and chose differently. I'm not going to say that one choice is better than the other, but I am criticizing what I perceive to be an unwarranted sense of entitlement by someone who chose the unemployment route.

'When I was your age son, I had to walk to school 5 miles uphill...' blah, blah, blah.....
'... and a gallon of milk cost only 2c...'
f*** you avocado, you cock sucker. Lick my balls, Justin Young is a god damn pro and I'm glad he expressed his true experience through his awesome one of a kind blog. I wish more ELITES would express their thoughts in this manner. Now go somewhere else, you nameless mother focker.
Could you name these runners with real jobs?
Justin
nice points in the blog. I don't disagree
a side question.....you mention IB profen does not work in your blog and you are correct but what does??
Sorry for the off topic question

I contacted Cal International months in advance. I was not 100% certain I would be able to race, even though I had 100% committed. That's the nature of this sport. You never really know if your training will progress - you have to plan in advance. I'm sure you understand this, being a big time athlete.
"Did a nice medium long run yesterday in 5:45/mile. Feel good. Perhaps I will see about a race?"
This was your post on 11/29. So you didn't 100% commit to CIM until about a week before. Why should the RD make any effort to accomodate you when you're clearly using CIM as a "safety race?"

No problem. I take Voltaren, a South African anti-inflammatory. You could probably get it from Canada, though. Much more effective, and I find it's easier on the stomach.
On a side note, man, I haven't looked at Letsrun in probably a year, and the first 10 minutes I'm on it, I'm in an argument. Geez. I'm leaving now, forget I was here. Sorry for the harsh commentary.
Although I'm still interested in Avocado's real name...lol
I committed 100% less than a week after Chicago. I did not commit 100% to myself until a week or so before...I wanted to see how training progressed. But as far as the race was concerned, I was committed.
Justin, we support you all the way! It is a shame that our own US marathons don't support a 2:14 marathoner such as yourself.....they should at least give you all travel costs, hotel and food. If a sub 2:15 guy can't get that it is just sad- a very poor reflection on CIM's idea of helping US distance running.
Avocado- you are a total tool. Let me guess, someone is jealous that they could never run a half marathon as fast as justin can run the full? You can remain an awkward, faceless nerd, hiding behind behind a computer screen- we all know that all your comments are full of sh1t!
great race, justin! I have no clue what anyone would be criticizing after a 2:14.
I ran CIM last weekend, and I agree 100% with you.
Take your CS degree and apply it to the course times link early in the dispute. There you see that California International does not aid times by nearly as much as many IAAF approved marathons. I never saw you acknowledge that or respond to it.

Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
