If it's short-fast repetitions to "run fast but relaxed", then I wouldn't call this speedwork. If it's fast and short, then it's actually not that demanding. If it were me (and I am my only athlete), I would do something like 10x-100m strides (800m pace?) with long recoveries, once or twice a week, before an easy run.But it's better to get a second opinion, as I'm inclined to believe that base training is base training.

From what i have learned, a big part of base is to( yes theres a lot of science stuff like metabolic reasons), but to bet enough miles in so you can handle a heavier workload throughout the season.
But i was doing 200m to 1)get my speed up 2)learn how to run fast but relaxed before workouts start. I just dont want to burn out.
anymore comments?. How many times a week?etc.
