What gives?
What gives?
I don't think people are happy that UCONN is in a BCS game. Big East should of never got an autobid, neither should the ACC. those are basketball conferences.
UCONN is from a traditional football powerhouse conference. TCU isn't.
TCU is a Christian university and we all know that most Christians are crazy as flock.

ACC usually has 1-2 good teams.
Usually Florida State, Virginia Tech historically and it looks like it's getting back to that.
In all honesty TCU, Utah, BYU should all stay in the MWC since Boise is joining. Then they should just give the MWC an autobid instead of the Big East.

Not so sure about that. From 1923-1996 TCU was part of the Southwest Conference which included Texas, Arkansas, A&M, and SMU (once a power). What Big East schools are traditional football powers? Syracuse many, many years ago, and possibly Pitt. Maybe WVU more recently.
You do realize ESPN is located in Connecticut, don't you?

Yep, and throw in Air Force and it would have been a pretty decent football conference.
In football crazy Texas? The state where everyone recruits from. The state where everyone writes about football. The state that had it's own network show. The state that every Sunday morning has alum like Aikman, Johnston, Bradshaw, Sanders, Irvin, and more. Do your own list, asshole. That's like saying John Smith is a wealthy man when he has $10,000 to his name. I'll show you a billionaire, bitch.

Throw in your local high school team with a 7-4 record and you have a decent conference.
The Big East is a traditional football powerhouse? Really?
How so? I don't recall the last time they had a #1. Or #2.
Or #3.
The BCS sucks. It is meant to protect the old boys network. Only NCAA sport I know of without a playoff. What are they afraid of? They want to protect the big money, that's what.
Dan Wetzel of Yahoo sports wrote a book that showed that there is actually more money in a playoff as opposed to the BCS. But the problem is that a playoff would be controlled by the NCAA, which would then control the money. And, the NCAA would set the playoffs and invite the teams, just like basketball. So they are definitely protecting their own interests. They don't give a "true" national champion isn't crowned because with TV ratings and attendance we fans show we act like we don't care whether there really is one or not. Then the university presidents just keep counting the money.
Edit...They don't give a crap that a "true" national champion isn't crowned.
I think TCU is a good team. A better bowl buster than Boise this year. But if they wanted to join a better conference why didn't they fill in for Nebraska in the Big 12? I'm not totally up on theoperations of the Big 12, do they already have a replacement lined up?
In 2012 this won't be an issue, as TCU will be a part of the Big East then.
I've heard a lot of grumbling over UCONN. I say go back to the old system and let argue who the champion is.
I liked the old way- it made New Years Day so fun- all the games were NYEve or Day and you had the traditional matchups no bull, then you could argue about who was #1.

I can tell you that the people who run the Fiesta Bowl are not very happy. This will be a second tier type game with terrible ratings and attendance.
