I decided to take a few months off from running- I decided I wanted to pursue swimming in college (I'm a High School triathlete and swimmer, Sr year) and decided it would be best to take a few months off from running to concentrate on time spent in the pool and give my feet a rest from the pounding (I sfx'd earlier this year).
This would have all been great, except that the foot pain is coming back. I honestly haven't really run or do any pounding exercises either- in the past month I've ran THREE times: two were just easy 2 milers and one was a charity 5k. Nothing really that much.
But now my feet (both of them) hurt- my right foot hurts slightly on the side (5th metatarsal- which I DID fracture earlier, visible fracture on the xray) and between/on top of my first and second metatarsal AND along the ball and arch of my foot. Walking and standing hurt it and it hurts much more at the end of the day than at the beginning (it's actually pretty pain free in the AM, but after walking- I'm a student- all day it gets sore).
Left foot is just along the side of the 5th metatarsal and heel.
I'm really at a loss of what's happened- I got xrays done earlier this week and the Dr. said no visible fractures. Not my regular sports medicine Dr. or GP and she wouldn't let me see my xray. ("Oh, everything looks fine. You don't need to see it. wth? I just want to see my foot!")
I haven't really had opportunity to refracture/make new fracture either foot. The three runs totaled to <7 miles and none were excessive. I just don't know why they hurt (and they can hurt a lot... I thought I was going to cry this evening from pain). I don't know how to treat it either.
There's been dull (easily ignorable) pain for almost three weeks now. I did a mini (2mile) turkey trot last Thursday and that's when it started getting worse and hurting more. Haven't/won't run until anything is figured out.
*side note- I am an inch taller and 10lbs heavier than when I ran in tri season. I'm a teen and apparently had a short growth spurt.
Help? I thought I was injury free but I guess not. I don't even know what I could have done to cause this pain.
