how long have they been offering that much prize money to top placers?
also, do they drug test?
No Wardian?
Wow, that's quite the field. "No Wardian?" is a good question. Jonathan Wyatt though - wow!
Does anyone have the complete field listing?
bump
Jonathan Wyatt is out, as is Anton Krupicka. I'm maintaining an up-to-date men's field preview:
The women's field is sick, as well, with three past World 100k champions, at least 4 Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc champions, a Western States 100 champ, and a top mountain runner in Anna Frost.

Regarding Wardian, as of two months ago, he was planning on running CIM instead of the TNF champs if he did not yet have an Olympic Trials qualifier.
Any updates out there?
At 30mi it was:
Roes and Dakota Jones - 4:04
Mackey 4:04:30
Dude Jason 4:07
Lorblanchet 4:08
Michael Owen
Skaggs
Lundstrom
Jez Bragg
Uli Steidl is back in 4:24
They're all sick? What was it - pre-race sushi dinner? Bummer.
Nice thread. Thanks. It appears winner is Heras. Any word on Uli Steidl's time?
heras wins in 6:47
roes +4
mackey +8
jones +15
schlarb +20
miguel heras is the brother to former UPS TdF rider roberto heras who used to be one of lance's most trusted domestiques in the mountains.
TNF has been awarding prize money of $10K, $4K, $1k for the past four years. there is no drug testing as far as i know.
if krupicka had been there i think it's safe to say that northern colorado (boulder/ft. collins) would have had 5 in the top 6. pretty crazy.

Heras was about 45 seconds behind Roes with Mackey 3 minutes behind Roes at the start of the last climb with about 4.5 miles to go, so obviously he Heras put a big more on or the other two didn't have much left from there.
In any case a pretty tight finish for a tough 50 miler.
what about the women?
Where did Dean finish?

So some pretty good money has been on the line for several years now and the Africans haven't attempted to come in and take it? Interesting.
