They certainly did go for it - no-one else was even close to them as they sprinted to the line. Great win by Webb.

It's all true - I was there and my husband is in the background of the photo showing Webb and Rupp on the final bend. It was a fantastic race - very exciting - and amazing to see such high class athletes an arm length away.

Yo I'm not saying that it was bad. Ritz is also "back" too with his 2:11 marathon. It's just an entirely different issue on whether or not they can compete with the rest now. Being "back" and being close competitors on the world stage is entirely different, and I just think Salazar should talk less about the latter.
No offense, bro, but you're an idiot. This was a thanksgiving 'fun run' in late November... little more than a workout. There is absolutely no value at all in trying to compare it to anything on the world scene.
Great to see Webb continue to get out there and mix it up. The talent was never a question; it was just a matter of getting him healthy, fit, and building up that confidence piece by piece. Looks like this should be another step in the right direction.
Keep it up, Alan.
frick they're taking forever to post results!
I did not say it to bash him but at the same time you did not read any of the articles.
Salazar was the one talking about the world stage thing and no it was not a "workout." If you read it talks about Rupp going after the American Record in the Road 5K. American Record attempts are not "workouts"
VIDEO OF THE FINISH!!DIEGO ESTRADA WITH A NASTY KICK TO COME INTO 4TH!

Well then, post the pic or SHUT YOUR GOD DAMNED PIE HOLE. Liar.
And no jive ass Photoshop Shenanigans either. Turkey nuts.
So, eat it - you dumb ass - Are you going to man up or are you going to be like most LR posters and disappear after making dumb ass comments?

Where was that written? It wasn't in the SJ Mercury article.
Wow great race for Scott Smith. He came close to running his track PR, must be in great shape!
Also, did any one notice this race was faster than the 5k road championship out in Providence this year?
long live the D.O.C.!!!!
its a much harder record than people think....the following folks have tried breaking it: Meb, Culpepper, Webb (twice), Ritz, Rupp, and many more. It will be broken someday, but Marc Davis record is an impressive one.
They ran a course that was basically 4 1200 meter loops, plus a little more at the end. A very flat and spectator-friendly course. The weather was also very ideal, about 55 degrees, sunny, no wind.

Just talked to him. (Estrada) He said he was mad about how NCAA's went for him, as he thought he should have definitely been top ten, So he wanted to test himself.
Damn!
maybe he shouldn't have gone out with Chelanga like he was going to win it and faded so hard. Had he run smart he definitely would've been top 10.

Webbs Back!!! Salazar has him right where he wants him!
I called this months ago.
From Doug Binder's Twitter:
"Alan Webb looked to me like he might be in the best shape of his life. Wow does he look fit."
guy looks physically in great shape, ja
I'm just thinking about Webb in the 2011 wc final in the 15 after running say 331 and I'm getting chills.
Webb, Wheating, Lagat, Manzano, others...has there ever been a better set of milers in the US?
