One of their DNF's came by me at 3K, and he was already well back. He DNF'd as he came by me again ~7K. He never looked right during the race.

This is almost in the league of Georgetown a few years ago when A. Taye had to return to the course to complete team scoring.
In one of the lrc photos you can see that one of oregon's guys lost a spike pretty early on. Not sure who he is / if he finished, but that could explain part of it.
Chad is awsome and I love him here at UCR. He doesnt like to talk about why he left Oregon though for some reason. Something about a pet fish i donno.
His altitude tent must of broke or something cause what happened for hall at nats?
That was the freshman, Shrader, who lost his shoe early on. I think he dropped out after running about 2 K barefooted. The other guy who dropped out was another freshman, DeJarnette. He was struggling (I think he went out too fast and hit the wall), and dropped out at around 7K.
they started 7..

so it takes what, 20sec to put a shoe back on? so you lose 20sec, but then you just run patient and catch people- including acosta most likely! dumb freshman.
It boggles my mind that otherwise thorough coaches like Vin and Smith haven't figured out having their athletes tape their shoes on for championships. We did this back in the 70's for chrissake!

It is a little difficult to go back and try to find your shoe after you have tried to run a couple K after having it pulled off in a crowd. Give the kid a break.
where are you all getting the info that brian lost his shoe? that seems inaccurate.
