This is one of the most fascinating reads on the letsrun message board in a long time. Thanks for posting this rojo. And thanks to all the Brits and other knowledgeable folks who have commented. This is a good history lesson on distance running, and there are some great maps to look at for a map dork like me.

First indoor finish of a Marathon ever.
In 2008 there was a run to commemorate the centenary of the 1908 marathon. Took place at 2.30pm on Thursday 24th July and followed the route from Windsor Castle to BBC Centre in White City.
It is possible to run the course but not for a championship as who wants to finish in the BBC car park!
