Mizzou gets rid of its male head cross country coach last year (yes he was forced out, not the BS story about family time), appoints his wife the new "head" cross country coach, brings in a new coach for the men and both teams finish 11th in the Big XII?!? I know Rome wasn't built in a day but this is ridiculous.
This program has been in decline ever since Jeff Pigg left. What really pisses me off is that they only sent 5 men to compete at the conference meet? Are you kidding me? That's like traveling to a basketball game with only your starting 5. Why even bother showing up (especially when your 5th man ran almost 30 minutes for 8K!).
In these times of Title 9 cuts I could see a justification for doing away with both cross country programs. They may have high GPAs but their team scores are even HIGHER. How can an athletic department with a football team and a men's basketball team both currently ranked in the top 15 nationally tolerate this kind of effort and performance?
