No doubt in my mind.... he will be training with Bob Larsen. You heard it hear first. I better get quote of the day or something for this prophetic post!

The best advice for is Hall is to join up with BMack and the Crossfit Endurance squad and deadlift/squat/Helen his way to Boston victory. It's obvious.
i just heard that ryan and sara bought the bankrupt crystal cathedral. the kicker was the mighty ducks and angels corporate suites. so the halls will be staying in town close to the folks. god bless.
Do you think this major change will push him to reconsider some other ideas, namely his solo training competitive attitude? Leaving Mammoth seems like a huge deal for Ryan, so I think he'll stay there unless he cannot find a satisfactory coach to come train him. He probably cares about success too much to give up competitive running, otherwise he would not bother with a coaching change. Since he seems to subscribe to coaching philosophies adequately, I believe a new coach could convince him to train with other high calibre athletes instead of so much solo work.
Oh, man, I'd have a continuous orgasm until their next marathon if he started training with Ritz. That seems very unlikely, though, as he loves running in the mountains too much and offers enough incentive for a coach to move there. I would say if no other sufficient coach takes him he may move to Salazar, but would Alberto even take him? He mentioned that Alan Webb was the only athlete he even considered taking.

Do it!

Is Alberto Catholic? I am just guessing from his ethnic heritage. If so than that would not necessarily be a good fit with the Halls' beliefs.
A devout Muslim would also be very religious but not a good fit.
It might work. He could teach Ryan how to pack his shoes with explosives, which could be lent to the Robert Cheruiyots.
Hmmm... maybe that's why he and Sarah are world traveling right now... maybe they're looking for a new place to train???
Move to Kenya.
Live like a Kenyan.
Train with the Kenyans.
Do mission work.
Win some races.
I thought this was list of great coaches? If your coach can't get a 28 min guy down to 2:10, I hesitate to call him a great marathon coach...

Of the post collegiate coaches who coach marathoners:
Mahon- tried him
Vigil- retired
Squires- retired?
Larsen- Meb's coach, in Mammoth
Salazar, Schumacher- Nike
Hansen's- group/Brooks
McMillan- Adidas
Hudson- didn't work for Ritz.
Steve Jones- Did well with Torres, but heard the group disbanded.
who else is there out there? Pete Rea, Chapman, Scott Simmons?

Ritz's Pr's:
1500m-3:42.99 (2002)
3000m-7:39.03 (2007)
2 mile-8:11.74 (2007)
5000m-12:56.27 (2009)
10,000m-27:22.28 (2009)
Half-Marathon-1:00:00 (2009)
Marathon-2:10:00 (2009)
He was refering to wejo, who was a 28-min guy and didn't run 2:10 (though one could argue he got unlucky and injured, missing his opportunity).
I like the "move to kenya, work at a mission" idea.
He's never broken 4 before?
I would be surprised if he actually stays in Mammoth for long.
10 Belz: Why would they ever do that? That makes no sense at all. If it's known that Hall desires to run for Salazar (or any other Nike coach) why shouldn't Nike tell him that they'd give him $30,000 a year plus bonuses since he's the one that's desperate? Okay so Hall says no, and they say, "fine, good luck finding the coach you want. If you really want this one, you know our offer." The bottom line is that in a situation like that, the athlete will get low balled to the extreme.
@10 Belz, you obviously don't know a thing about business & marketing. While I personally don't like Hall or subscribe to his beliefs, many people do and that translates to $$$ when properly marketed. If Nike chooses to do what it takes to bring Hall into their kingdom (i.e. splash the cash), you can bet they will make it back 10-fold each year.
That being said, is Salazar the right coach for Hall??? Maybe, maybe not. Hall will have to adapt to Salazar's methods which means track racing, and we all know Hall doesn't like the track.

When was it rumored on LetsRun.com?
Wejo,
Right here.

His(now former)team mates have confirmed that he will be remaining in Mammoth for the time being but will no longer be training with MTC

I'm not sure about that. I think it might be mahon. i listened to an interview of hall on competitorradio where he discussed his excitement about racing on the track last summer. (He did do a couple of races, but not as many as he planned)
Does anyone know if Mahon's other marathoners are trackless? Maybe that's why he needed to change, to get some speed back.
Asics and Hall have schedules a press conference for Friday afternoon 1pm PST from the Sea World facility. He'll begin training under the guidance of "The Penguin"
Lordy! I hope the Halls find a place that suits them.
It is curious that he has not made an official announcement himself. It may or may not involve a sponsor change. I suspect he already had a plan in place weeks ago and will make it public in his own time or when the new sponsor says.
Some say he is staying in Mammoth, so why disassociate with MTC? MTC has athletes from multiple sponsors and coaches. If staying, it it not absolutely necessary that he have a coach who is there. Dan Browne is a good example, though he may not have been officially associated with MTC.
