find a female running partner
Just do it. Run alone, you'll find that it gets more enjoyable as you get used to it.
Also, set a date for a race that you want to compete in. Goals, goals, goals.
Lastly, I didn't used to run with a watch, but, since I started to run by myself, I've found that wearing a watch seems to keep me motivated.
Pretty much what One Man Wolf Pack said--it gets easier. After a while, I really enjoyed running by myself, especially after coming home from or before going to work.
a lot of people are in this boat....take time off if you need it, and run when you want. or feel you are getting fat. that's what I did.
i've been running pretty much alone since may. its gotten a lot better. there are days where you just don't care, and can get you since you don't have a team commitment driving you. but just stay focused and running on those days will be your best runs.
look for a race every few weeks so you don't go crazy. they're good to gauge your progress and boost your confidence.
thanks guys, pretty much what I thought. I just entered my FIRST EVER road race haha. Are there road races in janrary/february? I live near sacramento. It seems all road races are soo early haha oh well.
Ideally, find a running partner you are compatible with, one with whom you can, if mood dictates, run twelve miles without saying a word, and neither of you uncomfortable with that.
But someone you are accountable to if you blow of a run.
Find a new team.
Like a previous poster said, it does get easier and you'll get used to it. After time, you might even prefer it as you don't have to depend on other people's schedules and you can go whenever you like. I have found that signing up for a race is a huge motivation for me before I start a training program. If I don't have a race, my milage significantly drops. I've also found that exploring new places and changing up terrain is very beneficial as you may have never ran technical trails in college/high school. By finding new places to run and switching up workouts, this can greatly improve your outlook on running in general. Good luck!
any advice? wrote:

It might be different where you live, but where I live (Triangle region of NC) most road races are in the fall and spring. You really have to look to find races in the summer and winter.
I keep my running log at running2win.com and have a team set up with a bunch of guys I used to run with, my gf, and some other random people I have run with. Reading their logs, leaving comments back and forth, and having a team forum help keep me more accountable and make me feel lazy if I don't run a lot. I still don't run a lot, but I at enjoy the fact that for once in my running career I am being lazy.
Gotta agree. Running with the opposite sex seems just a little devious, but is really interesting. Don't start off as a pervert, but after a while, conversations about sexual experiences just make the miles fly by!
What do you two talk about? Who has been banged by the most guys?
