"Kasahun, a native of Ethiopia..."
No, I thought I would make you work a little. Hope the click didn't strain anything.
Shocking.
Actually, it is kind of shocking. He, at least on the surface, has always appeared as a really nice guy.
And a smooth runner. Think he ran in the low 2:20's at CIM a few years back.
Man you hope stuff like this isn't true; really sad (especially for the poor victims) if it is.

Usually when it reaches so far as being arrested at your attorney's...it is true.
It is a horrible story.
And a dark side of human history/behavior...it has been going on since we slept in caves etc.
It tends to be multi-generational, passed down within families/extended families...or "close friends" of a family. It can be very hard for the victims to recover from, and especially becomes some "grow up" to desire to do the same to others/children.

(correction)
And former Oregon duck David Mack might have killed Biggie. What do they teach in Eugene?
assuming any of them ever get a mortgage and aren't pro runners, they're going to be in legal trouble. ducks don't have a lot of earning potential by using their degrees

Yeah, the banks are going to repossess Phil Knight's house any day now...
Well then you're an idiot for believing so whole-heartedly in superficial appearances.
Laughed when I saw this thread. Seem to be more former Ducks in legal trouble these days than there are former Ducks.
Truth is, most of the troubled Ducks were guys that put on a yellow and green singlet for a couple of races and then flunked out. Not sure you can really blame the university for what the school did or didn't teach. Most of these goons rarely stepped into a classroom.
Vocabulary lesson: enabling. Look it up.
They need to cut this guys balls off and send him to the gas chamber.
Yep, lots of duck runners in trouble. 1. David Mack who ran at Oregon some 30+ years ago and came out of an LA ghetto, given the chance to earn a degree, but pissed it away, quit school and moved back to LA to be with the homeboys. 2. Mike Kasahun, an Ethiopian, who ran for Martin Smith and had only one season with the Ducks. What kind of background to Mike have? Can you say you would have been any different with the backgrounds these two came from? Two duck runners over a 40 year period have gotten into trouble...I'd say that is better than society as a whole and at least as good a record as most D-1 programs in the country.
How about the glass half full for a change. Many Oregon runners have gone onto great success as businessmen, writers, managers, doctors, CPA's and in social service. Oregon prepares their athletes well...both on the track and for life. EOT
I stopped reading at 'Ethiopian'
Go through the list of the Duck's sub-four minute milers, and research what they are doing now. I will bet you a $100 that most, if not all, of them have very successful careers.
And I'll bet you $1000 that at least one of them is in *legal trouble*.
But I'm not sure if he counts on your list. He never earned a Duck degree, even with a 2nd try and all the money he needed he couldn't make it in academia.
All of Oregon's sub-four minute milers graduated,or will graduate. My bet still stands. I bet $100 that they had had, have, or will have successful careers.
