Huron,
Honestly don't go away in a huff (someone else said that and I agree). I'm not saying that you don't have those times you say you do, and I'm not saying that your advice of high mileage isn't good (I'm a high mileage guy myself). If you go back and read, you will see that I was more puzzled than not believing you; I never called you a liar. The fact is that there are lots of posters who post fake stuff here all the time, and since I hadn't seen your username "Huron" before, I decided to ask you right away so we could determine whether or not to believe you. Magpie fooled us all but good, but there are good runners here who are legitimate - JEH, DougC, Malmo, JasonInWherever, Wejo. I am still a bit puzzled, and in my response to RunClark below, you will see why.
RunClark,
Amazingly enough I also lived for a time in Ypsilanti, MI, turned down a scholarship offer from them in the 80s, and I know that the nickname of the Eastern Michigan sports teams is the Eagles, not Hurons. There is a Huron High School in Ann Arbor, but in trying to defend your friend Huron, you have thrown yet another wrench into the works. Also, there were not 8 guys running 9 flat in the state of Ohio in 1980 for 2 miles. Your memory does not serve you well. While I was leaning toward buying Huron's story lock stock and barrel, you have made me reconsider, and so for now I will remain skeptical. Again, I am not saying he is lying, just that I have too much confusing information to say one way or another.
Huron, past race times aside, you should keep posting your advice. Advice can be good or bad from a good or bad runner, and ultimately we get to decide whether or not to take it.
