Subway Kenyans Commercial

He's actually American.

I think one of the guys in that shoot may have been Mbarak Hussein from Abq, the masters guy that smoked that 2:16 at Twin Cities. A friend of mine was telling me about the shoot several weeks ago.

Having seen Mbarack training in Albuquerque several times over the summer, I would bet that the guy in the middle is him.

Kenyans run, and are pretty well known for that. The commercial is playing on that stereotype. I don't see how that would be seen as racist. Maybe fitness-ist?

Those strange Popeye's Chicken ads seem to have some racial undertones to them, but again they're not racist. Plus they seem to be targeting a black audience rather than making light of the stereotype and playing to a different audience.

it is Mbarak, think the guy on his right is also an albuquerque runner as well but can't remember the name. I'd have done it for a "free subway for life" card

His weight has fluctuated quite a bit. He used to live here in Indianapolis (not sure if he still does). He and his wife owned one of those "Sell it on e-Bay" stores. Anyway, I used to see him from time to time and at one point, he looked like he was about 300+ lbs again -- there was a time when they weren't using him for commercials -- that was why.

It was cool they used actual Kenyans and elite runners( if you guys are right). I remember Taco Bell did a commercial with a clueless guy eating a taco at the start of a race, and I don't think the elite guys were exactly realistic.

I'll take the liberty to point out that "Kenyan" is not a race. Kenya is a country. Maybe countriest, but not racist.

More importantly do you believe the Subways 9 grain wheat is only 2% wheat bread and they use caramel color to make the bread look like wheat? Add the nitrates from there meat and you have food that is not any better for you the Carls JR.

I'm pretty sure the guys in the commercial are Andrew Musuva, Jonathan Ndambuki, and Mbarak Hussein.

The only thing funnier than the PC folks getting offended on this message board is when non-PC people get upset by the PC comments.

The stupidest part of this ad is that they're saying the nearest Subway from Kenya is only 500 miles away...

I doubt there are subways on that continent anywhere.
