I would say "most" riders of any significance train at natural altitude, and do not use altitude tents. Landis famously claimed to sleep in a homemade altitude chamber/tent, but I would call that a facade to keep up appearances. His real RBC gains were coming from doping. If any international pro riders were using altitude tents, I would question what they're hiding. I'm cynical, though.
I think Altitude tents and altitude training just recently gained popularity since EPO is detectable. As far as I remember, LA never went to Colorado in his preparation during his tour wins. Just for his comeback, he did. Before, he probably didn't need it.
