Wow...37 kilometres and Mungara has really opened up things now. ( 40metre lead ?)
Looks like 37 years old is the age when sh%# happens!
Cooelsat still sub 2:11 pace around 38 km ! Olympic standard within reach.
Mungara may go under 2:08 It is going to be close (I guess sub 2:08 is the big bonus. ) All Mungara ...looks great..
Wooowww... 2 07:57 !!! Mungara!!
kenneth mangara wins at 2:07:57 just beats the 2:08 mark
Chirchir second,Rono third ...Kenyan sweep all 2:08 low ...now Toronto race is getting to turn more heads ..
Mungara pockets 40,000 dollar payday!
Gillis at 2:12:08 ,solid almost 2 minute pb!
Cooelsat ....sub 2:11:29 ...Olympic standard ...whoah...go canucks!
Canadians at 2:11 and 2:12! What a day! Gillis has had some year.
Dylan Wykes and Gitah Macharia ran well in the half. Are they running marathons later on this fall?
Canada sucks.
Can't wait to see how these guys improve in the next year... go Canada!
Good race by the Canucks. I was standing about 600m from the finish, Coolsaet went by first as my watch was just under 2:10, Gillis went by a few seconds later. Neither looked like they were laboring. The conditions today were perfect for a solid time. Ed Whitlock looked smooth as ever. Maybe his knees are giving him trouble but he sure wasn't showing it. The media mobbed him when he crossed the line.
Women's race was a corker. The 2 lead women were side by side with 600 to go. They were well under the records and giving it their all the snag that bonus money.
If my records are up to date, Reid Coolsaet, with a 2:11:23, and Eric Gillis, with a 2:12:08, have just moved well into the top ten in the Canadian all-time men's marathon rankings. Congratulations to you both. Both of you are now positioned to have a shot at Jerome Drayton's Canadian record of 2:10:09 which was set in Fukuoka in 1975.
Reid, you have come a long way since I saw you race dirt track miles in Cambridge several years ago.
Talked to Dylan after his race, and he is just back to training for longer stuff while working 70 hour weeks to complete his masters! Said he plans on an early winter marathon, and was super pumped and motivated by the Perfomances of Reid and Gillis
