I read the question as a true/false. I say false. He won't finish.

Fernandez is a FREAK talent. Much more talent than Derrick, and Derrick is something special.
3:55 and 13:25 as a frosh. Incredible.
And even more impressive, 1 year young for his grade.
No way he's in the top ten. Yeah he was beating Derrek and Puskedra a couple of years ago but people seem to forget the benefit of consistant training. Derrek has been able to train without injury and has gotten better becasue of it. GF has satyed the same if not gotten worse.
And it is Derrick, not Derrek people. He is certainly talented enough to be in the top 10 if healthy - he showed that freshman year. Fernandez has the kind of talent that comes around every...crap I dunno, 25+ years? Gernandez healthy doesn't have too many people in front of him.
And yes, I like calling him Gernandez. It is a quick way to say him full name.

Derrick was injured all of indoor last year you moron.

Derrick lost a bit of training time during his senior year in high school, didnt he? So, he was behind in training for his collegiate freshman year. I don't think that he is significantly less, or less at all, able than German.
Fernandez ran through the frosh year based on his high school training and talent, plus a higher mileage base and better competition.
Then the Smith training and crazy ideas began taking effect, Fernandez managed to get through the NCAA 1500 but was toast. Watch that interview at the end of the 1500 and you could see he was done. I will he will not run another good race while he's being trained by Smith. If he ever does run well again it will take him a year or two after he graduates and gets back on a good program, like he was running in high schoo.

He'll finish 3rd this season.
I agree with the person who said no way he finishes outside the top 5, as long as he's healthy.
Am I missing something? Wasn't he "healthy" or at least as healthy as he's been in over a year last year at NCAA XC Nationals when he took 100+?
Just saying. Healthy he takes between 30th and 50th. He's lost too much consistent training in the last year. Unhealthy he DNF's or goes 100+ AGAIN. Lets remember his track record before saying he's a lock for top 5.

Just saying...
Holy Kablooey (sp)!!! Yes, you are missing something.
He was NOT healthy - not even close to being healthy at all during XC 2009. If you have not heard about his problem with low iron levels you either do not follow running at all or have been living under a rock for the past year.
I suppose you could weasel out of it by falling back on your "at least as healthy as he's been in over a year last year" clause. He clearly was not anywhere near healthy from August 2009 through Feb 2010. Since then he has pretty much not been seen. But if he does show up healthy this year nobody except for Chelanga, Derrick and McNeil has a chance against him. Your "between 30th and 50th" is just ignorance.
German Fernandez will finish ____ at NCAAXC
...his math homework while the rest of the team runs...

Kind of like from August 2009 through February 2010.

The difference is that from mid 2009 through early 2010 he raced a few times and ran mostly terribly. It is well known that he was not healthy during this period. Since then he has not raced.
He may well be at or near full health at this time. I don't know whether he is or is not. I suspect you do not know either.
There is a difference.
I have trouble seeing...

I think, if he is healthy, Chelanga or Derreck will have to go sub 29 to beat him on that Terre Haute course

Once again a letsrun poster talking out their *ss. GF is like any other great runner, he will have his ups and downs. I believe he will shut all you negative *ssh*le up like he has in the past and he will be in the top three at NCAA'S. If GF is 100% I don't thing, a will have just turned, 20 year-old can beat a 27:08 24 year-old, but then again I hope GF proves me wrong.

Top 50. Feeling generous.
At least 150 spots closer to first than anyone who posts on this thread ever has or will.

yeah, he was toast when he ran that 13:25 AJR AFTER he was "toast." and what are these "crazy ideas?" what is wrong with smiths training? Your overwhelming ignorance makes me question my own reasons to even respond to your post. To blatantly point it out the obvious because i have nothing better to do, i suppose.
