There was talk that not enough money was raised to fund the Project 30 initiatives and that was a key issue in the termination. I think it was in Deena's comments after Logan was fired. My question is that we are now less than 2 years away from the Olympic Games. It will take some time (3-6 months) to name a new CEO. That puts us into 2011. Even if the new CEO walks in the door and can get the desired funding in 3-6 mos on the job, it leaves very little time for the funds to be helpful to the athletes who need support in 2010 and throughout 2011, not just at the end of 2011 and first half of 2012. How can things possibly work better with new leadership, given that this new leadership will be on an even tighter timeline for fundraising than Logan was? Why not make it to 2012 and then have the concrete info to judge? "Did you win 30 medals or not. If not, thank you. We gave it a good try."
I personally thought the new emphasis on high performance was a step in the right direction. Lots more folks in key positions with funding to make a difference. An example being Robert Chapman brought in as physiology person.
