yes, they ride horses to a bridge, and then jump off. Clearly horses are dangerous.
the horse is magnificent animal is it not? As runners we can relate to the horse running a race. Heart pounding, legs heavy. Built to run.
Why do I think that some recent posts/threads attributed to rojo aren't really his? Did someone hack his account? A neat trick, if so!
if you want to be green do NOT get a horse. The amount of food you have to buy for a horse will take more fossil fuel energy to plant, grow, harvest, and ship to your horse than the amount of fossil fuel energy spent driving to work. Also the emissions of horses are considerable and methane is a terrible greenhouse gas. If you want to be green ride a freakin bike, you idiot.
i'm from south dakota and this sounds crazy
A horse produces about 9 tons of manure a year.

And so does this website.

Please ban this new troll calling himself rojo.
Rojo, do you know how to RIDE a horse? Do you think it's easy?
Getting from point A to B is easy. calming a horse down when it gets excited/scared is hard.
If you had titled this post: "how sweet would it be to have a horse?" I'd be like "really sweet." But you seem halfway serious, so I have to conclude: you are that wonderfully dangerous combo of uninformed and overconfident.
He is right:
(1) There is some skill involved. On a comparative basis, it's kind of on the same level as learning to ski (downhill), assuming that you have never skied or ridden a horse before.
(2) The horse's personality and demeanor is a very important consideration when choosing a horse. Some horses are very "rascally" but some are sweet and mild. You have to develop a relationship with your horse. Keep in mind that when you are sitting on a horse, you are sitting on 900-1000 pounds of pure muscle, so if the horse is pissed off at you and wants you off in a hurry, you WILL fly. All 7 of our horses have very different personalities, and 2 of them are very difficult to ride.
He's from Texas. We all grew up riding horses to school.
rojo, do you know a man by the name of sandowich?
I saw this thread on the homepage and clicked on it having no idea Rojo started it.
I then googled Gladwyne (the place where the horse riding kid lives) to see where it was. I knew it was somewhere outside of Philly but wasn't sure how rural.
The first result was a google map. I clicked on it. Instead of showing the gladwyne in Pa. It showed a gladwyne in Ithaca NY where Rojo lives. Pretty strange coincidence.
So I think this is pointing towards getting the horse. There is an empty grass sidelot next to Rojo's house. He could put the horse there.
It's a mile down a residential street to Cornell. Not a bad commute. Very few cars until he hits the campus. He'd be a hit with the elementary school he passes.
The kid in Philly has to go 4 times as far. Video of the kid at this link:
