I don't miss collegiate running in the least bit. After three years of struggling as a mediocre D1 runner I quit this past summer. Had ups and downs, but considerably more downs. Injuries, under performance, and physical/mental burnout all contributed to taking the joy out of running for me. For someone as competitive as myself, it was tough to throw in the towel. But since I have made the decision to give up competitive running, I have been 100% satisfied. I now have the time and energy to devote to other interests outside of running, things that I always wanted to do but was limited because of running. It sometimes pains me to think that I gave up three years of a social life in college for a failed running career, but I did learn some things about myself along the way. And I will admit that I do miss the ability to do 16-18 mile long runs at near 6min pace, something I know that I will probably never again be fit enough to do. Thats the end of my ramble...
