Just a little East coast bias/arrogance? I'm pretty sure the groups in Portland, Mammoth, Flagstaff, Michigan, and Blowing Rock (ZAP) are doing their part too. Oh, and don't forget the NCAA in Indianapolis.
It's interesting how all of the people "in charge" or who people think should be in charge, are on the East coast while all the athletes they are supporting/representing are training out West.
Here's a thought. If we want solid organization and an athlete first mentality in the USATF, hire a capable, recognizable, well respected, retired athlete to represent the USATF. Preferably a former track athlete but if a former athlete from another sport was available and they are qualified (or even close to being qualified at this point), hire them. It seems as if Kastor, being on the board, is in a position to be that when she chooses to retire. And yes, Wittenberg might be a great option. Is there anyone else who could be considered?
I, for one, am tired of executives, who haven't broken a sweat outside of the walls of a private health club in 40 years, having so much influence over the careers of athletes. They just don't get "it".
