She didn't go to the Nike Pre-Nationals. Instead, I was told, she did the 5:01, 1600 meter time trial at McKinelyville High School track. She is running the Jr High cross country meets here in Humboldt County, CA and kicking eveyones, boys included, butts.

u guys dont even know her!!!!!!!!!!!! im friends with her and last week she ran a 5:02 mile. and no, that is not a mistake.she is definately capable of a 16:43. so why dont you go find something better to do than doubt chloe, because if you saw her run you you would change your mind.

Looks like Ms. Pigg likely broke the American Record for 12 year old girls (i.e. "midget" girls) for 1500 meters (4:41.62, equivalent to a 5:04.15 mile) en route during her 5:02 mile time trial:
Too bad the official timer didn't catch the 1500m split, as she would now be an official American Record Holder.
BTW: at this year's USA Youth Outdoor T&F Championships, the midget girls 1500m was won in 4:49.57 ( = 5:12.74 mile ) => Chloe Pigg would have won that race by over 50 meters.
Mike Pigg, her father, was one of the hardest working and revered guys in triathlon back in the day. The dude won a ton of races and used to beat Mark Allen often. He has good genetics and a work ethic which I'm sure were both passed on to his kids.

None. I think he was 'only' 3rd at Kona.
Looking at that picture, she looks like the top runner type, none of the others do. Someone might have done this already, but I would see what the other athletes in the race did in other races, which would help calibrate the course. Also, was this really a race for them or was it a 'shake out' race, where the times might be a minute slower than on a comparable course several weeks and race-oriented later?

Just saying, a boy who is 12 years old on average runs slower than a girl who is 12 years old as a girl hits puberty first. Of course, since the guys run 2 and a half minutes faster that wouldn't matter all that much but just saying taht usually girls run faster than boys at that age.

Um, no. Many schools, mine alma mater included, have 6th graders running XC. The girls are not even close to the boys.

You would be correct that in most of the schools boys would easily beat the girls. However, if you had two athletes with huge talent that one is a boy and one is a girl and they both run to their max potential in 6th grade(and the boy doesn't hit puberty while the girl is already done) than the girl would probably win the race.

i agree. in ontario we had one of those girl phenoms a few years back. when she was in grade 9 i saw her run the boys freshman 800 race in her regional meet. she smoked all of them but by next year she would not have been able to do that.
